Two brothers detained by Pakistani forces found dead in Balochistan; custodial death concerns raised
Imam and Muhammad Umar, two labourers from Mand, were found dead with gunshot wounds after they were allegedly detained by Pakistani security personne

Two brothers who were allegedly taken into custody by Pakistani security personnel were later found dead in Balochistan’s Kech district, with their bodies bearing bullet injuries, raising concerns around custodial treatment. The victims, identified as Imam and Muhammad Umar, were residents of Shaban Bazaar in Mand and were reportedly employed as labourers in Jiwani’s Kuntani area, according to The Balochistan Post, cited by ANI.The brothers were travelling back to Mand on a motorcycle when they stopped near Balicha Cross after their vehicle reportedly ran out of fuel. Witnesses cited by the publication alleged that security personnel detained the two from the spot. The family later received their bodies through local police. Residents said both men had sustained gunshot wounds. The brothers were laid to rest in their ancestral village of Soro in Mand after funeral prayers. The incident has sparked concern among local residents, who questioned the circumstances leading to their deaths. The report said that before the identities of the deceased became known, several pro-military social media accounts claimed that two suspected militants had been killed during a security operation in the area. However, residents disputed those claims, identifying the deceased as the two labourers and insisting they had no militant links. There has been no official response from Pakistan’s military or government regarding the alleged detention or the deaths.Paank, the human rights wing of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), condemned the incident, alleging that the brothers were victims of an extrajudicial killing. The organisation urged authorities to order an independent and transparent investigation and called for accountability if the allegations are proven.
