Farah Khan has been working in the film industry since the age of 15. Her family experienced a financial crisis during her teenage years when her father Kamran Khan’s film Aisa Bhi Hota Hai flopped, causing her family to face severe financial hardship. Despite these challenges, Farah rose through the ranks of the industry, transitioning from a dancer to a choreographer and, eventually, a successful filmmaker. In a recent interaction, Farah opened up about how her childhood insecurity of facing financial difficulty continues to drive her to work to this day.

In a conversation on the show Too Much With Twinkle and Kajol, Farah spoke about her successful YouTube channel and explained why, despite her success, she chooses to work every day. She said, “I don’t know where this drive comes from. But I think it is an insecurity. When you don’t have money in your childhood… so I feel that every day I go to work, then there will be more money for my kids. Basically, it is that.”

Farah also shared Akshay Kumar’s example, who has openly stated that he works primarily for financial reasons. “Other than that, I enjoy working and going out. It is pretty much what Akshay does. I’m not saying this in a bad way, I admire it. It is very commendable that when you know you are doing something and that will get you this much, and of course, you are loving the work that you are doing,” she shared.

However, Farah’s journey to the top hasn’t been without its challenges. Like many women in the industry, she faced her share of harassment. During the interaction, she recalled an incident when a director tried to make advances towards her while she was working on his film as a choreographer. “He came into my room to discuss a song or something while I was in bed, and he sat next to me. I had to kick him from there,” Farah recounted. Twinkle, who was present during the incident, shared, “He was after her, no matter what. She had to physically kick him. This happened. I was the witness.”

Farah Khan is known for directing films like Om Shanti Om, Tees Maar Khan and Main Hoon Na.
