With the objective of strengthening environmental awareness and addressing climate change concerns, Sfurti Foundation is organising an environmental festival titled “The Big Green Fest 2026” on Janauary 17 and 18 at Kalagram, Pu La Deshpande Garden, Sinhagad Road, Pune.

The festival marks the culmination of the fourth edition of the “Pune Climate Warrior” initiative, a year-long environmental education programme for school students conceptualised by former Rajya Sabha MP Vandana Chavan. The event will bring together schools, colleges, NGOs, government bodies, and enterprises engaged in eco-friendly and sustainable products and practices on a common platform.

As part of the festival, awareness exhibitions will be showcased on solid waste management, eco-friendly construction and sustainable urban development. A dedicated information gallery will also be set up for the general public, highlighting global warming, its causes, impacts, and possible solutions through informative visuals.

Chavan told The Indian Express that the the two-day festival will feature a diverse range of activities including nature trails, panel discussions on environmental issues, short film screenings, workshops, heritage walks, a group singing competition for school students, the innovative “Green Jugaad” competition, poster-making and reel-making competitions for college students, interactions with sanitation workers, and a unique storytelling musical performance titled “Zhaadanchya Manaat Jau.”

Organised with the aim of encouraging citizens to adopt environmentally responsible lifestyles and actively contribute towards sustainability, The Big Green Fest 2026 is a collective effort of Sfurti Foundation and several Pune-based NGOs. Advocate Divya Chavan-Jachak, chief coordinator of the initiative, has appealed to citizens of Pune to participate in large numbers and be a part of this celebration of environmental action.
