Iran-US War News Today Live Updates:Speaking during a virtual parliamentary session after being re-elected as the speaker, Iran’s Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Tehran has no trust in the promises of its adversaries and would judge any potential agreement solely on concrete outcomes, Reuters reported citing state media. He stressed that Iran would only fulfil its commitments once it had certainty that the rights and interests of the Iranian people were secured.

Israeli forces captured fort in Lebanon: Confirming the claims of Israeli forces capturing the Beaufort Castle in southern Lebanon after the country’s military expanded its operations across the Litani River, Defence Minister Israel Katz Sunday hailed it as a “strategic” victory for “the defence of the Galilee communities and maintaining the security of our forces.” Over a post on Telegram, Katz said that fighting is underway while promising to continue efforts to weaken Hezbollah and secure Israel’s northern border.

Trump promises no nukes in Iran: United States President Donald Trump early Sunday guaranteed that there would be no nuclear weapons as Iran had agreed to the same, even as he called the negotiations with the Islamic country “tough”. In an interview to Fox News, Trump underlined that military action remained a viable option if talks fail, even as he claimed that both countries were close to a “very good deal.”

Pentagon says US ready to resume strikes

Speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, Hegseth said the US was “more than capable” of resuming military action if needed, adding that American stockpiles were sufficient to sustain operations globally. He said Trump remained “patient” and was seeking a “great deal” that would ensure Iran never obtains a nuclear weapon.

Iran accuses Trump of ‘betraying diplomacy’

Meanwhile, Mohsen Rezaei, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, accused Trump of “betraying diplomacy for the third time” by maintaining a naval blockade on Iran and pushing what Tehran described as excessive demands during negotiations. Key disagreements continue to centre around Iran’s nuclear programme and control of the Strait of Hormuz, which Tehran insists is a sovereign matter. The conflict launched by the US and Israel on February 28 has killed thousands, mainly in Iran and Lebanon, and disrupted global energy markets after Iran effectively closed the strategic waterway.
