Both Abhinav and Sagar were thrown onto the road and suffered serious injuries.
The car driver took both injured students to Sector 16 hospital but fled soon thereafter. Due to the critical condition of Abhinav, he was referred to PGI, where he later succumbed to injuries during treatment.

Sagar told the police that Abhinav was riding the bike while he was seated behind him when the accident happened. He added that he could identify the driver if he came face to face with him.

The police launched a search operation to trace the absconding driver.
