Weightlifter Harjinder Kaur and Gulveer Singh won silver medals in the women’s 69kg Final and men’s 10,000m final respectively while boxers Preeti Pawar, Priya Ghanghas and Jadumoni Singh assured themselves a medal after winning their respective quarterfinal bouts in day 6 of the Commonwealth Games.

Nirupama Devi could not finish with a medal in 63kg weightlifting while Vishal TK qualified for the men’s 400m semis but swimmers Srihari Nataraj failed to reach the men’s 100m Backstroke semifinal while Budigina and Ali Imam also lost in the Men’s 50m Freestyle S13.

The other boxers Parveen Hooda and Kapil Pokhariya, however, failed to qualify from their respective quarterfinal bouts. In the Women’s high jump, Pooja Singh also came up short as she was elimated after failing to clear 1.82m in three attempts.

After an eventful Day 5, Indian athletes will take to the field once again on day 6 with a fair few medals on the line. Weightlifter Nirupama Devi Seram will have a chance to win a medal in the Women’s 63kg Final while Harjinder Kaur will look to clinch a medal in the Women’s 69kg Final.
