Haryana Police ADGP Suicide: AHaryana-cadre IPS officer, Y Puran Kumar, allegedly shot himself dead at his home in Sector 11 of Chandigarh on Tuesday afternoon. Senior officials of Chandigarh Police reached his home and are inspecting the spot.

According to senior police officials, Puran Kumar died on the spot. Preliminary investigations revealed that he shot himself with his official weapon.

Puran Kumar, a 2001-batch IPS officer, was earlier posted as additional director-general of police (ADGP, Rohtak range) and was transferred as inspector-general, Police Training Centre, Sunaria in Rohtak, on September 25. An engineering graduate, he was born on May 19, 1973, and was due to retire on May 31, 2033.

“He shot himself at his private residence. He died on the spot,” one of the investigating officials said.
