WITH ONLY one day left for the deadline for returning the forms in the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) campaign of the electoral roll in Gujarat, only 1,877 forms are yet to be received out of 5,08,43,291 forms distributed across the state.

That is, 99.99 per cent of the counting phase has been completed, a statement from the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) issued on Wednesday said.

The counting phase of the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) campaign, is ending on December 11.

“As many as 27 districts of the state have shown excellent performance in the counting phase and have completed 100 per cent of the work. These are Aravalli, Valsad, Mahisagar, Patan, Banaskantha, Surendranagar, Sabarkantha, Anand, Gir Somnath, Dahod, Rajkot, Tapi, Dang, Porbandar, Junagadh, Morbi, Kheda, Chhota Udepur, Botad, Navsari, Amreli, Mehsana, Kutch, Vadodara, Jamnagar, Panchmahal and Devbhoomi Dwarka,” the statement added.

By the last phase of the counting phase, it was noticed that more than 18 lakh deceased voters were included in the electoral list. While more than 10.26 lakh voters were found absent from their addresses, along with this, it was noticed that more than 40.44 lakh voters had permanently migrated. While more than 3.37 lakh voters were noticed to be repeat voters.

Also, in total, 100 per cent verification work has been completed in a total of 166 Assembly constituencies of the state. Meetings were organised between Booth Level Officers and Booth Level Agents of recognised political parties during three days from December 7-9. With the conclusion of these meetings, the list of names of voters in each assembly constituency is being published on the website of the District Election Officers and published on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO). An easy system has been ensured so that voters can also verify the details posted district-wise.
