As Delhi continues to choke under ‘severe’ air pollution, former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes has expressed concern over the national capital’s deteriorating air quality while he was passing through the city, en route to Ranchi.

Passing through Delhi en route to Ranchi this evening, and as always, it’s hard to digest the low levels of air quality here. Am grateful to be living in a small fishing village in South Goa ##AQI #whats2Bdone pic.twitter.com/3ctZELJmRN

“Passing through Delhi en route to Ranchi this evening, and as always, it’s hard to digest the low levels of air quality here. Am grateful to be living in a small fishing village in South Goa ##AQI #whats2Bdone,” Rhodes wrote on X.

The post went viral after Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma responded on Monday, stating that Delhi’s poor air quality is world-famous. Sharma responded, “Jonty Rhodes now lives in South Goa !! Aur ab Delhi ki Air Quality ke charche to global hain…. usska kya hi kahain.”

The interaction quickly gained traction with several users chiming in their viewpoints on the ongoing air crisis in Delhi-NCR. “It’s so pathetic. No one cares. Moments like this make me weak about India. And its growth story. The motivation fizzles,” a user wrote. “Delhi’s air crisis persists; Jonty’s Goa move reflects need for action, not just talk,” another user commented.

Many reacted, stating that nothing is going to change because Delhi’s air pollution is beyond repair.
