A Congress corporator has been booked for forgery, as it was alleged that she had attached documents of a school that she was never a student of in her election affidavit.
In the April 26 local body elections, Kalpana Kodekar won from the Kubernagar ward of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). As per the complaint against her, she submitted a forged school leaving certificate (LC) to the election officials.

The FIR against her was filed based on a complaint by Ashokkumar Kantilal Patel (68), the managing trustee of Bhavna Education Trust, which runs the Krushnanagar Vidyavihar High School.
As per the FIR, the school had received a letter from the district education officer (DEO) stating that, on April 24, one Chirag Pravinchandra Shah alleged that Kalpana, whose maiden name is Navlekar, had attached a fake LC to her election affidavit, and two officials had inquired into the same.
“When the two officials crosschecked the GR (general register) number and the LC number against the school records, they found that the two numbers were assigned to two different people, and none of them was Kalpana Suraj Navlekar. There were also allegedly no records of her having left the school on June 27, 1988.”
Kalpana was booked under sections 336(2) and 340(2) of the BNS at Krushnanagar police station.
Responding to the FIR, Kalpana refuted the allegations and said she would respond to the notice as and when she received it. “My documents are genuine. These are attempts to scare me. All the allegations are baseless. I do not have anything to do with Class 10, as I have studied till Class 8 only from Krushnanagar Vidyavihar High School. The LC is of Class 8 and is genuine. I do not know who Chirag Shah is other than that he lives in the Sabarmati area and is a BJP worker. I will fight it legally and I am with the law. There should be an investigation into the allegations against me,” she stated.

DEO (Ahmedabad city) R C Chaudhary, meanwhile, said, “We received the complaint on April 24… While the GR number was issued in the name of Hasmukh Chavda, and the LC number was given to Ankit Soni. It was then that we directed an investigation and a police complaint into the matter.”
Chaudhary, however, also said: “It is true that the LC issued in 1990 shows the date of joining the school as June 1988. She (Kalpana) was admitted to the school in 1988, but her name was struck off as she often remained absent.”
Police inspector VH Joshi said the police were collecting and studying the documents involved in the case, and notices to persons concerned would be sent once that was completed.
