The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced that the CA Final examinations will be conducted twice a year from May 2026 onwards, replacing the existing three-attempt cycle. As per an official notice, the decision has been taken following feedback from stakeholders, and marks a significant shift in the exam schedule.

“Presently, Chartered Accountants Final Examinations are being conducted thrice a year i.e., in the months of January, May and September. However, in view of the feedback from the stakeholders, the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has decided that CA Final Examinations shall be conducted twice a year in the months of May and November with effect from May 2026 Chartered Accountants Examination and onwards,” ICAI said in its statement.

With this change, the January attempt will be discontinued, candidates will now have two opportunities annually, in May and November, to appear for the CA Final exams. The May 2026 session will be the first under the revised schedule.

Notably, the institute has not indicated any changes to the syllabus or evaluation pattern, suggesting that the revision is limited to how many times the exam was being conducted.

Meanwhile, ICAI has also commenced its 64th campus placement process for newly qualified Chartered Accountants. The interview process begins on April 6 at major centres, including Mumbai and Delhi (April 6–10), followed by Bengaluru (April 8–13), Chennai (April 9–14), Kolkata (April 10–15), and Hyderabad (April 13–17). Additional drives will be held in cities such as Pune, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur, along with smaller centres.

The institute has introduced a standardised orientation programme this year to help candidates prepare for placements, covering interview readiness, employer expectations, and career guidance. In the previous cycle, over 10,200 job offers were made, with the highest domestic package reaching Rs 32.33 lakh per annum.
