Virat Kohli mourns Dharmendra’s demise: 'Today, we have lost a legend'

Indian cricket star Virat Kohli expressed his condolences following the passing of veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra. The legendary actor passed away on Monday at the age of 89.“Today, we have lost a legend of Indian cinema who captivated hearts with his charm and his talent. A true icon who inspired everyone who watched him. May the family find strength in this tough time. My sincere condolences to the whole family,” Kohli wrote on X.Dharmendra was recently admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai. He was discharged on November 12 after showing signs of recovery but passed away shortly after returning home.

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag paid his respects on X, writing, “Dharmendra ji was not just an actor, he was an era. A star in simplicity, a He-Man in strength, and gold at heart. His films, his style, and his warmth will be remembered for generations. A great artist, may God grant peace to his soul. Om Shanti.”“Heartfelt tribute to Dharmendra Ji — a timeless icon whose grace, strength, and unparalleled charm have left an everlasting mark on Indian cinema. From his powerful performances to his warmth both on and off screen, he touched countless hearts and inspired generations. His films, his smile, and his spirit will forever remain etched in our memories. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti,” wrote Harbhajan Singh on X.“The end of an era. Bollywood’s beloved He-Man, Dharmendra Ji, is no more. His timeless films, warmth, and unforgettable legacy will continue to live in our hearts for generations. From a small village in Punjab to the heart of Indian cinema, his journey will forever inspire. Heartfelt tribute to the legend. Om Shanti,” former cricketer Kedar Jadhav expressed.“You stood tall, not just in stature, but in spirit. Dharmendra ji, thank you for showing us strength can be kind. Om Shanti,” wrote Shikhar Dhawan.Several Indian Premier League teams also shared their condolences. Punjab Kings posted in Punjabi, “Parde te amar, te saade dilan vich vi hamesha lai amar!”Kolkata Knight Riders shared pictures of Dharmendra, including one with team co-owners Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla. Delhi Capitals also expressed their condolences on social media.Dharmendra began his career in Indian cinema in the early 1960s after winning a talent hunt competition. He was born in Punjab in 1935 and was honored with the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award.
