Stock market today: Nifty50 and BSE Sensex, the Indian equity benchmark indices, ended in red on Wednesday, breaking their four-day positive streak due to selling pressure in heavyweight stocks like Reliance Industries and HDFC Bank.The NSE Nifty declined by 62.15 points or 0.25 per cent to finish at 25,046.15. The BSE Sensex experienced volatility, falling 153.09 points or 0.19 per cent to close at 81,773.66. The index fluctuated between a high of 82,257.74 and a low of 81,646.08 during the trading session, with a range of 611.66 points.Among Sensex components, major decliners included Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bharat Electronics, UltraTech Cement, Trent, Sun Pharma, Power Grid and Reliance Industries.On the positive side, Titan, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, HCL Tech and Tech Mahindra emerged as top gainers.“Key indices witnessed a volatile session, tempered by profit booking after a sharp rally. Investor caution dominated ahead of the Q2 earnings season, as market participants reassessed valuations and growth prospects,” Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments Limited said.FIIs turned net buyers on Tuesday, purchasing equities worth Rs 1,440.66 crore, as per exchange data.In Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei 225 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng closed lower, whilst Chinese and South Korean markets remained closed for holidays.European markets traded positively, while US markets finished lower on Tuesday.The international oil benchmark Brent crude increased by 1.16 per cent to USD 66.21 per barrel.On Tuesday, the Sensex had gained 136.63 points or 0.17 per cent to end at 81,926.75, while the Nifty rose by 30.65 points or 0.12 per cent to 25,108.30.(Disclaimer: Recommendations and views on the stock market and other asset classes given by experts are their own.
