Russia strikes Ukraine's Naftogaz production facilities with ballistic missiles, drones

Ukraine’s state-owned energy company Naftogaz Group said its production facilities in the Poltava and Kharkiv regions came under massive Russian attacks over the past two days, involving ballistic missiles and drones that caused damage to critical energy infrastructure.Naftogaz Group CEO Sergii Koretskyi said the strikes targeted the company’s production assets, but no employees were injured despite the intensity of the attacks.

Ballistic missiles, cluster munitions used

According to Koretskyi, the attacks involved at least four ballistic missiles, including missiles equipped with cluster warheads, along with multiple drones. “The enemy carried out massive attacks on Naftogaz Group’s production assets in the Poltava and Kharkiv regions,” the CEO said in a statement. The company confirmed that destruction had been recorded at the affected facilities, with teams continuing to assess the full extent of the damage.A shuttle bus transporting employees to one of the production sites was also damaged during the strikes.Despite the attack, no casualties were reported. “Fortunately, no one was injured,” Koretskyi said, crediting the company’s safety protocols for preventing loss of life.

Damage assessment underway

Naftogaz said specialists are evaluating the consequences of the strikes as work continues to assess damage to production infrastructure. The company added that previously implemented safety measures helped protect employees during the attacks, ensuring that all staff remained unharmed despite the heavy missile and drone bombardment.
