Police in Tamil Nadu have registered a case against three minors after a video showing an Industrial Training Institute (ITI)

MADURAI: The Madurai rural district police on Tuesday booked three minors for their alleged involvement in ragging of a 15-year-old govt Industrial Training Institute (ITI) student inside a govt Kallar college hostel room at Checkanurani in Madurai after a video of the incident was circulated on social media. The hostel warden has been suspended and investigation was ongoing.According to the police, the victim, a 15-year-old boy, is a first-year student at institute at Checkanurani. The boy was recently subjected to ragging by three 17-year-old boys inside the Government Kallar College hostel room. The senior boys stripped the 15-year-old naked and beat him up.

Police said that the incident came to light after the video recorded of the disturbing act was circulated on social media platforms.Based on the complaint by boy’s father, the Checkanurani police registered a case and picked up the three senior boys for questioning. Police said that the victim was not from Scheduled Caste after such claims emerged. Further investigation was on.Meanwhile, the warden of the govt Kallar college hostel was suspended for not ensuring the safety of an inmate. Officials from the education department also launched a probe into the incident.
