“Pretty big deal” - Golden State Warriors legend Draymond Green reacts to being name-dropped in latest K-Pop song from Blackpink

In a career that has spanned over 14 years, Draymond Green has achieved quite a lot. Drafted by the Golden State Warriors, the athlete has led the team to an NBA championship four times. Recently, the Warriors legend received another accolade to his name. The Korean girl group Blackpink namedropped the athlete in their latest song. The song is titled “Me and My”, which is a part of their third studio album, “Deadline.” The song was sung by Lisa.Reacting to the namedrop, Draymond broke his silence recently. While talking to Bay Area News Group’s Joseph Dycus, the athlete appreciated the gesture by the K-Pop band. He believed that getting name-dropped in a K-Pop song is a pretty big deal and expressed his gratitude for the same. Draymond even expressed his excitement to listen to the song alomg with his kids.

Naming popular athletes in songs has become a trend. It reflects the kind of influence that the athletes have around the world, both on fans and artists. The Golden State Warriors legend, Draymond Green, was the latest one to join the list of athletes who have been name-dropped in songs. He was namedropped by the famous Korean girl group Blackpink in their latest song, “Me and My.” The line that mentioned his name was, “Just me and my Day 1s, pretty girls walkin’. Golden like we Draymond, they pay us for a walk-in.” Blackpink’s Lisa sang the song.The NBA star responded to it with a heartfelt message. While talking to Bay Area News Group’s Joseph Dycus, Draymond stated, “It’s pretty exciting, man.” He further added, “You get name-dropped in a rap song, it’s pretty fun.” Draymond believed that getting name-dropped in a K-Pop song actually legitimizes his popularity around the world. He added, “When you get name-dropped in a K-Pop song, you may be a pretty big deal. “I’m waiting to listen to it with my kids, and we’re supposed to listen to it on the way to the game. My daughters love K-Pop.”

What are Draymond Green’s achievements?

Draymond Green has one of the most notable career arcs within the NBA. The Golden State Warriors legend was drafted in 2012 as the 35th overall pick. Since then, he has added several achievements and accolades to his name. The athlete has led the team to an NBA championship four times in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022. He was selected as an NBA All-Star from 2016 to 2018 and in 2022. Green was part of the All-NBA Second Team in 2016 and the All-NBA Third Team in 2017. He was also named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2017. These are some of the milestones that landed the athlete with an impressive career arc within the league.
