A newly married couple allegedly died by suicide within 24 hours of each other in a village in Khanna, Punjab, earlier this week. A married woman has been accused of harassing the man and has been named in an FIR.
Gurkaramdeep Singh, 34, an architect, and Jasmine Nagra, 24, were married around five months ago, said Inspector Sandeep Kumar.

Gurkaramdeep allegedly died by suicide on Sunday. “Struggling to cope with her husband’s death, Jasmine also died by suicide on Monday. She was taken to a private hospital in Patila but died. She told the family before dying that she did not want to live after her husband’s death,” said Station House Officer Kumar.
Navjot Kaur, a woman from the same village, has been charged with abeting suicide based on a complaint by Gurkaramdeep’s mother Chhindarpal Kaur.
Chhindarpal Kaur has told the police that her son had been in a relationship with Navjot Kaur, who is also a distant relative. Gurkaramdeep ended all contact with Navjot after his wedding, but she kept harassing him and blackmailing him, his mother alleges. Navjot allegedly also tried to frame Gurkaramdeep in a rape case. According to Chhindarpal Kaur, before dying her son told the family that he had been under severe mental stress because of the constant harassment and threats.
