Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said that approximately 100 tonnes of debris has accumulated at the Missing Link on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway following a landslide. So far, about 70 tonnes of debris have been successfully cleared, and work to remove the remaining debris is ongoing. Fadnavis has appealed to citizens to avoid traveling on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway unless absolutely necessary.
Tree felling incidents; red alert: Mumbai witnessed 523 tree fall incidents in the last 24 hours as heavy rain and strong winds battered the city, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) latest disaster report. The incidents claimed the life of 63-year-old Yunus Kundawala and left 10 others injured. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad and Ratnagiri for Monday, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds of 70-80 kmph. Sindhudurg has been placed under an orange alert.

Flight cancellations: The severe weather also affected air travel, with heavy rain and gusty winds disrupting operations at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) on Sunday. Four flights were cancelled, around 13 were diverted and more than 330 were delayed, making Mumbai the world’s most disrupted airport that day, according to Flightradar24.
