BAREILLY: A 25-year-old engineer was arrested on Saturday for allegedly killing his twin sister by stabbing her 40 times and attacking their mother at their Moradabad home, police said. The siblings, Hardik Malhotra and Himshikha Malhotra, originally from Budaun, resided in Gurgaon and were visiting their family home to celebrate Holi. Himshikha worked at a private company and was pursuing an MBA. During questioning, Hardik reportedly told investigators that he had been under stress following the end of a relationship with a woman he met on Instagram about seven months ago.The incident took place when Himshikha tried to counsel him during an argument. Hardik allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and attacked her and also injured their mother Neelima Malhotra when she intervened.Neighbours alerted authorities after hearing screams, but the accused had already fled, leaving the blood-stained knife behind. He was arrested within 24 hours and the knife was recovered at the scene.Moradabad SP Kumar Ranvijay Singh said, “An FIR was registered under BNS for murder and attempt to murder, and the Arms Act. The accused has been sent to jail and investigations continue.”
