'Male corpse private parts' joke row: Mumbai's KEM Hospital to take action against Dr Sejal Pawar
King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital in Mumbai has decided to take action against MBBS student Sejal Pawar based on the findings of an internal committee formed to investigate alleged deragatory remarks about male cadavers at a stand-up comedy show, according to sources.

MUMBAI: King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital in Mumbai has decided to take action against MBBS student Sejal Pawar based on the findings of an internal committee formed to investigate alleged deragatory remarks about male cadavers at a stand-up comedy show, according to sources. The two-member committee is expected to submit its report by evening, after which the hospital will decide the next course of action.Meanwhile, BMC officials are holding meetings on the matter. The parents of the girl also met the dean of KEM Hospital on Thursday.“Such remarks are completely unacceptable and intolerable,” said Dr Harish Pathak, Dean of King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital.“Yesterday, we came to know through social media that a video is being circulated in which one of our students is seen making objectionable comments about dead bodies. We are very sensitive about respect for the dead, especially as bodies are donated with great emotional commitment for medical education.”I have constituted a two-member committee to inquire into the matter. We expect the report by evening, and appropriate action will be taken thereafter,” he added further. The remarks have also drawn criticism from the All India Medical Students’ Association (AIMSA), which condemned what it called “insensitive and disrespectful” comments against cadavers and body donors.AIMSA said the comments made by Pawar at the Gurgaon comedy show were “completely unacceptable and undermines the sanctity of medical education.”“AIMSA strongly condemns the insensitive and disrespectful portrayal of cadavers and body donors for entertainment or comedy. Rj Pranit, Sejal Pawar (MBBS Student). Every cadaver represents a noble individual who chose to contribute to medical education through body donation, helping shape future doctors and save countless lives. As medical professionals and students, we are bound by the values of dignity, ethics and respect towards the deceased and their families,” AIMSA wrote on X.The controversy erupted after Pawar’s comments about cadavers and body donors during the comedy show sparked outrage among medical professionals and others.

Should institutions have stricter policies on student conduct regarding public statements?
