316 students graduate at IIIT-Bangalore’s 26th convocation

An Integrated M.Tech. student of the International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT-Bangalore) has secured a record annual package of Rs 1.5 crore, the highest among the graduating Class of 2026. Two other students from the institute received offers worth Rs 1.3 crore each, with over 22 students securing annual packages above Rs 60 lakh.The placement outcomes were announced as IIIT-Bangalore conferred degrees on 316 students during its 26th annual convocation on Saturday. The graduating batch comprised 95 students from the Integrated M.Tech. (B.Tech. + M.Tech.) programme, 175 from M.Tech., 32 from M.S. by Research and 14 PhD scholars.Placement performance and academic achievementsAccording to the institute, 27 students received annual packages between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 60 lakh, while more than 110 students secured offers exceeding Rs 20 lakh per annum.The convocation also marked a milestone in the institute’s academic journey with the graduation of its 100th PhD scholar, Dr Vikas, a neurosurgeon from NIMHANS, who completed doctoral research in Computer Science and Engineering. The institute also crossed the milestone of 5,000 alumni.Several students were recognised for academic excellence. Singuru Manognya received the Institute Gold Medal for M.Tech., while Subhajeet Lahiri was awarded the Institute Gold Medal for Integrated M.Tech. Siddharth Kothari and Yukta Arvind Rajapur were honoured as the best outgoing male and female students, respectively.

Director highlights innovation and researchAddressing the graduating students, IIIT-Bangalore Director Dr Debabrata Das said the Class of 2026 had distinguished itself across academics, research, innovation and entrepreneurship.“The graduating Class of 2026 has demonstrated exceptional talent, resilience, and a spirit of innovation across academics, research, entrepreneurship, sports, and the arts. As our graduates embark on their next journey, I encourage them to remain curious, embrace lifelong learning, and use technology with purpose and responsibility. The theme of this year’s Convocation, ‘Wings of Excellence,’ reflects our belief that true excellence lies not only in professional success but also in creating a positive impact on society,” he said.Professor Rajat Moona, Director of IIT Gandhinagar, was the chief guest at the ceremony, while Dr V. Veerappan, Co-founder and President of Tessolve Semiconductor and Chairman of ELCITA, attended as the guest of honour. IIIT-Bangalore also highlighted its Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) initiatives, stating that its DPI products are being used in over 40 countries, while the Tele-MANAS national tele-mental health platform developed by the institute has handled more than 40 lakh calls.
