SHIMLA: At least seven people were killed and 11 others injured after a private bus overturned and plunged onto a lower road in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district at around 7:15 am on Saturday, police said.The bus was travelling from Bairagarh to Chamba when the accident occurred near Chalunj Mor (curve) on the Bairagarh-Tissa road.The 27-kilometre mountain route through the remote Churah Valley is known for its narrow stretches and steep drop-offs and serves as a key route to the high-altitude Sach Pass.All 11 injured people were shifted to a hospital for treatment, while six of them were referred to Pt Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College and Hospital in Chamba for further treatment.A search and rescue team comprising personnel from the NDRF, police, home guards, fire services was dispatched to the accident site.According to preliminary information, around 20 to 25 passengers were travelling on the bus at the time of the accident.Chamba superintendent of police Vijay Saklani said the cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained and that police will investigate the circumstances leading to the mishap.Chaos prevailed at the site following the accident as rescue operations were launched.Further details about the accident, including the identities of those killed and injured, are awaited.
