NEW DELHI: Social media speculation claiming that Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana had unfollowed her fiancé, Palash Muchhal, on Instagram has turned out to be incorrect. Their wedding, originally scheduled for September 23, was postponed due to medical emergencies involving both families.A verification by TOI Sports confirmed that Mandhana is still following Muchhal on Instagram, despite screenshots circulating online suggesting otherwise.

However, Mandhana has taken down all wedding-related posts from her social media platforms. The decision to postpone the wedding was made after Mandhana’s father developed heart-attack-like symptoms during breakfast on the morning of the ceremony and was rushed to Sarvhit Hospital.

.

Just a day later, Palash also suffered health complications and required medical attention. With Mandhana’s father still under observation, both families mutually agreed to delay the wedding until he and Palash fully recover.Palash’s mother, Amita Muchhal, told the Hindustan Times that her son had already been considering postponement even before Mandhana made the decision.

“Palash is very emotionally attached to Smriti’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana. Their relationship is even closer than the Smriti-Palash chemistry,” Amita Muchhal said. She explained that Palash became extremely distressed after the haldi ceremony when Mandhana’s father fell ill, which triggered his own health issues. He required around four hours of medical care, including an IV drip and ECG tests. While his reports have since returned to normal, he continues to experience stress-related symptoms. The wedding has now been postponed indefinitely as both families prioritise recovery and well-being. Despite ongoing social media rumours of a breakup, the families have clarified that the delay is due solely to medical circumstances.
