Breaking: Assassination Attempt On Trump? Gunman Opens Fire Outside White House; Lockdown Imposed

Multiple gunshots were reportedly heard outside the White House on Sunday, prompting a massive security response as police and federal agents swarmed the area around the presidential complex. US President Donald Trump was inside the White House at the time amid ongoing negotiations related to Iran, AFP reported.A suspect opened fire at a US Secret Service security booth outside the White House, with between 10 and 20 shots reportedly fired during the incident, CBS News reported citing sources familiar with the matter.Secret Service personnel returned fire, killing the suspect, while a bystander was also injured during the exchange. No Secret Service officers were believed to have been struck by gunfire, the sources said.Also read: White House gunfire scare: Footage shows journalists running for shelter“FBI is on the scene and supporting Secret Service responding to shots fired near White House grounds – we will update the public as we’re able,” said FBI director Kash Patel.This comes after Trump informed in his social media post that he was at the Oval Office and a final agreement with Iran would be announced soon.“I am in the Oval Office at the White House where we just had a very good call with President Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, of The United Arab Emirates, Emir Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, and Minister Ali al-Thawadi, of Qatar, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir Ahmed Shah, of Pakistan, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, of Türkiye, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, of Egypt, King Abdullah II, of Jordan, and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, of Bahrain, concerning the Islamic Republic of Iran, and all things related to a Memorandum of Understanding pertaining to PEACE,” he said.Also read: White House shooting: 21-year-old Nasire Best, who identified himself as Jesus Christ, shot dead“An Agreement has been largely negotiated, subject to finalization between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the various other Countries, as listed. Final aspects and details of the Deal are currently being discussed, and will be announced shortly. In addition to many other elements of the Agreement, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” he added.An ABC journalist said that the media persons have been rushed to the press briefing room after a “dozens of gunshots” were heard“I was in the middle of taping on my iPhone for a social video from the White House North Lawn when we heard the shots. It sounded like dozens of gunshots. We were told to sprint to the press briefing room where we are holding now,” ABC journalist Selina Wang said in a post on X.
