Bhubaneswar: Family members of NEET aspirant Roshan Patra, who was found dead in his hostel room in Rajasthan’s Kota on Saturday, suspect foul play and want a thorough probe into the incident.Roshan (24) from Abhaypur village under Patrapur block in Ganjam district was preparing for NEET while staying at Rajiv Gandhi Nagar in Kota with his cousin.

His father, Radha Shyam Patra, told the media that Roshan called him two days back and spoke to him for around 30 minutes. “He also spoke to his mother on video call. He was normal then. The very next day, we heard about his death,” Radha Shyam said.He said Roshan was lying face down on the bed, and blood was coming out of his mouth and nose. He demanded a proper investigation into the matter so that the truth can come out.Radha Shyam, along with his cousin Sitaram, reached Kota on Sunday and spoke to Jawahar Nagar police station authorities about Roshan’s death. “We are shocked and devastated after seeing Roshan’s body. We had dreamt of a better future for Roshan, but now he is lying in the morgue,” said Sitaram.Ramlaxman, circle inspector, Jawahar Nagar police station, said the reason behind Roshan’s death will be clear after the post-mortem report comes. “The boy’s father and other family members reached here on Sunday. We can ascertain the cause of death after conducting the postmortem,” the officer said. The incident came to light after the deceased failed to show up for lunch at the hostel mess on Saturday afternoon. His cousin went up to Roshan’s room but was unable to get a response from him despite knocking at the door.Ramlaxman said a hostel warden later opened the room with a duplicate key and discovered the boy lying prone on a bed. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
