A powerful 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia’s Sulawesi island on Tuesday, according to the country’s geophysics agency BMKG, Reuters reported.The quake’s epicentre was located about 42 kilometres southeast of Palu at a depth of 10 kilometres, raising concerns about potential damage and aftershocks in the region.The quake’s powerful tremors prompted residents in and around Palu, the capital of Central Sulawesi province, to rush outdoors for safety. Hospitals in the area also evacuated patients, including some receiving intravenous treatment, as a precautionary measure.There were no immediate reports of deaths, injuries, or significant damage, though authorities were continuing to evaluate the earthquake’s impact in affected regions. The tremor marks the second major earthquake to strike Southeast Asia this month. Earlier, on June 8, a powerful 7.7-magnitude quake hit the Philippines, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).
