Nor for Rashmika Shahid or for Kriti Shahid. As an audience you are never invested into the main theme. Characters have been written so bad, they are shallow and one dimensional. Cocktail Orignal one for all its regressive themes had so much better characters, you acutely felt for Veronica- she was an icon. Ally is good looking and hot, that’s it. I feel Kriti could have done more if she was given more dimension for her character but she tried best with whatever she was given. Shahid has been doing some form of Kabir Singh for last 10 years, and Rashmika was good in my opinion, the accent didn’t bother me much.”

User VanillaSpirited54 took to Reddit and wrote, “I loved the way it started. However, it felt like shahid was trying too hard to act all goofy and casual. Sort of felt forced. Kritis arch was also somewhat awkward in the beginning and Rashmikas storyline was also too weird. Could not relate. I felt they could have come up with something better for the first half. I kept comparing it to cocktail 1. Then the second half began. It started growing on me. Somehow the story got better. I started relating to me and my friends’ stories. Shahid redeems himself. At one point when he looks at Kriti, without saying anything, I could feel what he’s feeling. And then he looks at Rashmika later. Overall decent movie. Both pluses and minuses. Feel like Kriti is being overly praised. She’s good but don’t think it’s her career best performance. Rashmika is ok. Her lips seem weird to me. Have seen better performances of hers. Shahid is good too. Again not the best or most memorable. But works. Overall story, writing could have been better. Good actors. Not so good storyline and direction I think.”

Rashmika and Shahid did what they were given to do. Beautiful locations, amazing songs, genuinely loved the soundtrack. But the whole central theme of making up scenarios in your own head kinda loses itself when the film starts getting preachy and predictable right when the actual plot needs to deliver. Same old Bollywood issue where two people fall in love through a couple of songs and suddenly we’re supposed to buy the relationship, even though the runtime is this long. The love triangle setup actually had potential, but from the beginning it felt way too idealistic that the main girl would even allow this situation to happen. Had they gone a little braver with the ending, this could’ve been so much more. Still a fun watch overall, but man, Luv Ranjan really needs to level up his writing. Every film written by him somehow ends up feeling the same, and the female characters being so badly written.”

User Less_Produce_7922 said via Reddit, “I HATED the movie and i like most movies.The fact that they made it seem like shahid cheated made me lose all symapthy for him and kriti and i was angry while watching the movie – in the end they are like no it didnt happen but i spent the whole movie being angry?? I hate calling women pick mes cause its overused for women but kritis charecter is the definition of it 😭😭 she had zero morals and i didn’t feel sympathy for her because they showed no backstory, trauma or why she is the way she is ( the did that well for deepika in part on and also diana penty) Rashmikas charecter was semi- sane. What i didnt get is why she agreed to marry shahid without knowing nothing happened. Ben if he didnt cheat he did indulge in flirting with Kriti through the movie. I wouldnt marry someone like that not cheating is bare fucking minimum????? Is the bar that low???? Lets not normalize this!!”

Trade site Sacnilk shared that as of Day 4, Cocktail 2 is currently running across 5,133 shows and has collected a net of Rs 1.71 Cr by 3 pm.

Cocktail 2 witnessed a relatively slow start on its first Monday, registering a morning occupany of 10.31%, indicating a significant drop from the strong turnout seen over the opening weekend.

On Sunday, Rashmika Mandanna dropped a heartfelt glimpse from her latest release, Cocktail 2 and wrote, “We’ve always believed in the forever kind of love and it was lived. Signing off with love. Yours, Diya Reddy and Rashmika Cocktail 2.”

In 2012, Cocktail, the Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty film opened with a net collection of Rs 10.95 crore on its first Friday, followed by a jump to Rs 12.23 crore on Saturday, while on Sunday, the film recorded its highest single-day earnings of the weekend, collecting Rs 14.20 crore net. The total net collection for its opening weekend stands at Rs 37.38 crore.

On the other hand, Cocktail 2 wrapped up a strong opening weekend, collecting Rs 47.50 crore net in India in three days. After earning Rs 13.50 crore on Friday and Rs 16.25 crore on Saturday, the Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna starrer registered its highest single-day collection on Sunday with Rs 17.75 crore.

Cocktail 2 asks difficult questions about love, timing, commitment, and whether the things we want from life change as we grow older. The biggest reason it works is because every character feels real. You understand their choices even when you don’t agree with them. Shahid, Kriti, and Rashmika are all terrific, bringing emotional depth to a story that could have easily settled for surface-level drama. Beautifully shot, emotionally engaging, and backed by some genuinely memorable music. A film that gives you plenty to think about after you leave the theatre.”

Cocktail 2 enjoyed a solid opening weekend at the box office, collecting a total of Rs 47.50 crore net in India over its first three days. The film opened with R 13.50 crore on Friday across 10,835 shows with 21% occupancy, followed by a strong jump to Rs 16.25 crore on Saturday with 26% occupancy. On Sunday, the Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna starrer recorded its highest single-day collection of Rs 17.75 crore from 10,462 shows, while occupancy rose further to 29%.
