NEW DELHI: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, addressing a rally in Patna, announced a series of welfare measures for Bihar’s Panchayati Raj representatives, should the INDIA bloc come to power in the upcoming elections.Tejashwi promised a substantial increase in per-quintal margin money for PDS distributors, along with pension schemes and a Rs 50 lakh insurance cover for Panchayat and Gram Kachari representatives. “The INDIA bloc, if voted to power, will double allowances of representatives of Bihar’s Panchayati Raj system,” he said.

Speaking at the rally, Yadav sought to draw a contrast with the BJP’s two-decade rule in the state. “People of Bihar gave them 20 years; we are only asking for 20 months. I have full faith in the people that this time there will be a change and the government will also change. Mahagathbandhan together will work to make a new Bihar,” he said. Also read: Tejashwi Yadav vs who?
