NEET PAPER LEAK: LESSONS FROM INDIA'S BIGGEST EXAM SCANDAL

A person appears on a smartphone video call using a fake caller identity

AJMER: An unidentified caller allegedly showed a question paper on a video call to a NEET aspirant in Ajmer on Saturday and demanded Rs 30,000 in exchange for it, prompting the city police to initiate an investigation.Former DAV College Students’ Union president and ABVP member Krishna Singh Thakur lodged a complaint with the police in this regard.According to the complaint, a first-year DAV College student, scheduled to appear for the NEET exam Sunday, received a call from an unknown number. The caller claimed to have the NEET question paper and offered to provide it before the examination. When the student asked for proof, the caller allegedly displayed the paper during a video call.Thakur claimed he also received a call from the same number, during which the caller offered the question paper for Rs 30,000 and shared an online payment number for the transfer. Thakur provided a recorded conversation to the police.Additional SP (City) Himanshu Jagid said police received the complaint and a team was assigned to investigate. He said efforts were under way to identify the caller and verify the authenticity of the question paper shown during the video call.Police sources said, by late evening, the initial assessment suggested it could be a fraud attempt aimed at cheating students appearing for the NEET re-exam scheduled Sunday.

If you were in the student’s position, how would you handle a call like this?
