In a third set that was filled with highlights-worthy rallies, Alcaraz eventually prevailed 6-3 to put one hand on the trophy. The two players saved the best for the fourth in an epic contest but Djokovic’s fight couldn’t take the match into the fifth set.

A whopping 18 years have passed since a young 21-year-old defied the odds and clinched his maiden Grand Slam title at Melbourne Park. Breaking the Federer-Nadal duopoly since, Novak Djokovic enters his 11th Australian Open final on Sunday as the most decorated man in singles tennis, with a chance to nudge an unprecedented 25th major title.
