The Kerala government is set to launch “Vijnana Yathra – Chief Minister’s Mega Quiz” on Monday. Aimed at spreading social awareness and historical knowledge among young people, the statewide quiz competition will focus on Kerala’s history, progress, renaissance movement, and modern developmental achievements, a press release said.

The eligible school students (classes 8-12), will compete for a first prize of Rs 5,00,000. The second and third prize winners each stand to gain Rs 3,00,000 and Rs 2,00,000, respectively. The press release said that 5 lakh students are expected to turn up for the event.

In the college and university students’ category, the first prize winner will receive Rs 3,00,000, followed by Rs 2,00,000 for second position and Rs 1,00,000 for third place. In addition to cash awards, all winners will receive mementos and certificates of merit.

In the school students’ category, competitions will be held at the school, educational district, revenue district, and state levels. For college students, the competition will be conducted at the college, district, and state levels.

While the initial rounds in both categories will be conducted individually, subsequent rounds—from the educational district level onwards—will be team-based. All participants will receive online participation certificates. District-level winners will receive mementos and certificates.

The press statement said the competition is likely to be interactive; starting from the district level, the competition will involve the audience, offering prizes for correct answers from spectators. The mega quiz is being organised by the Information and Public Relations Department (IPRD) in association with the General Education and Higher Education Departments.
