The mega-hit Dhurandhar, which has earned over Rs 700 crore domestically and is still going strong, is showing now with a dialogue and some words muted.
Officials told PTI that Aditya Dhar Films had decided to “make the changes on their own”, stressing there was no directive from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry regarding this. The filmmakers, they said, had approached the Central Board of Film Certification with the changes—which included muting the dialogues with words ‘Baloch’ and ‘intelligence’, apparently as these had been found offensive by certain communities.
The film, which released on December 5, centres on an Indian spy, played by Ranveer Singh, who infiltrates a local gang of criminals and arms dealers. Akshaye Khanna’s character Rahman Dakait is hailed as a respected leader of the Baloch community in the film and is called Rehman Baloch. Ranveer’s character Hamza also says he is from the same community. The Baloch are shown supplying weapons to Rahman, which he then sells to the ISI for terror attacks on India.
