Using forest patches to escape in the dark and involving associates with clean police records–this is how three men went on a robbery rampage in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area . The three men have been arrested after five to six complaints were received over the last two months, officers said.

“In October and November 2025, a series of burglaries and attempted burglaries were reported from D-7 and D-8, Vasant Kunj. In the first incident, a burglary took place during the intervening night of October 17 and 18, at an apartment. The theft resulted in Rs 10,000 cash and an imported torch being stolen. On October 26, another theft at Sai Baba Temple, D-7, resulted in the theft of Rs 80,000 cash, a 10-gram silver coin, a silver plate and other valuables,” DCP (South West) Amit Goel said.

Two more similar burglaries were attempted on November 10 and November 19, which alerted the police about a possible pattern and involvement of a gang, officers said.

The police then scanned over 150 CCTVs and questioned over 60 known burglars involved in previous incidents before zeroing in on the accused.

“Relying on sustained technical surveillance and local intelligence, the team apprehended accused Gaurav alias Rinku, followed by arrests of Sunil alias Rabban and Md. Salim. The accused operated after conducting reconnaissance in areas close to forest patches adjoining residential blocks, ensuring easy access and escape. The men often used Sunil’s car and involved an associate with no previous record to evade identification and fingerprint matching,” DCP Goel said.
