The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, Wednesday shared details of what he called the “H files”, alleging that the October 2024 Haryana Assembly elections were “stolen” from the Congress. Targeting the ruling BJP and the Election Commission (EC) in this regard, he showed picture of a woman whom he identified as a “Brazilian model”, claiming that her stock photo was used to cast votes 22 times with multiple names in 10 booths in Haryana’s Rai Assembly constituency.
Hours after Rahul’s press conference, Haryana BJP president Mohanlal Badoli hit back, telling The Indian Express that his accusations were “nothing but a bundle of lies”. Excerpts from the interview:
How do you see Rahul Gandhi’s claim about a woman whom he claimed to be a ‘Brazilian model’ voting 22 times in the Haryana polls?
Is that so-called Brazilian woman or model their relative? Must be. They (Congress) should clarify who is she, from where she came and what did she do. They are the ones who should tell people what she did and prove it.
Rahul showed pictures of several people figuring multiple times in voters’ list. Your comments?
This is all for them (Congress) to tell people what did these people do. It seems all of them are their own (people) and now they have started highlighting them.
What is your response to Rahul’s allegations against the BJP and EC?
There is no truth in these allegations. All these things are nothing but bundles of lies. People are not going to fall for this. People know their (Congress) political gimmicks. They are just doing all this to gain publicity.
Do you think it may have an impact on the current Bihar polls?
Rahul Gandhi has used this particular timing, because Congress and its allies are seeing defeat in Bihar polls. People in Bihar are not even acknowledging them for which they have resorted to this political stunt. One should verify whatever they have alleged. Who voted multiple times, where, whose picture was there – all these can be verified. It is just by doing such things that they want to gain traction, but it is not going to benefit them at all.
