Bengaluru weather: Traffic woes likely in store for IT hub as IMD forecasts more rain

Bengaluru Weather Today October 23: Bengaluru residents must brace for another day of rain and traffic snarls. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), has forecast light to moderate rain and thundershowers in most places over Bengaluru (Rural) and Bengaluru (Urban) as well as Chamarajanagara, Chikkaballapura, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Mandya, Mysuru, Ramanagara and Tumakuru districts.

The latest bulletin on Karnataka weather from IMD reads: “Heavy rain/thundershowers with gusty wind (30-40 kmph) likely to occur at one or two places over Shivamogga, Vijayanagara, Ballari, Chitradurga and Davanagere districts.”

An IMD advisory read that there could be temporary disruption of traffic flow due to waterlogging and falling trees. It asked commuters to plan their travel accordingly and follow police advisory.

On Friday, heavy rain and thundershowers with gusty winds of up to 40 kmph are likely at one or two places over Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts. Saturday will likely see heavy rain and thundershowers over Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts while light to moderate rain over Dakshina Kannada.

Bengaluru traffic advisory

The Bengaluru traffic police on Thursday advised to avoid Ali Asker Road towards Cunningham Road as the stretch had to be closed due to a fallen tree. Commuters have been advised to use the Infantry Road. Another stretch closed due to fallen trees is the RC Pura-Ramachandrapura stretch.

The police also said that Panathur Main Road will also be closed till October 31 due to maintenance.

Further, the Metro station work in Karthik Nagar will also impact traffic movement Mahadevapura and Marathahalli. Hence, commuters along this stretch would do well to leave early for their destinations.

Commuters on Thursday morning already saw snarls on some stretches. Netizens took to social media platforms to post images of the snarls.
