Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Collection Day 15: All things that go up must come down, and the box office collection of Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 is finally starting to show some strain. For the first time in its theatrical run, the film’s India net collection fell to single digits. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Kantara Chapter 1 made Rs 8.87 crore on day 15, taking its net collection in the country to Rs 485.32 crore. The movie is expected to pass the Rs 500 crore mark this weekend. It has already crossed Rs 717.5 crore worldwide.

With the extended Diwali holiday weekend around the corner, the movie will probably witness a spike in collections. Rishab Shetty’s film made Rs 337.4 crore in the first seven days, while it only earned Rs 147.87 crore during the second week. That is more than a 50% dip in earnings. Moreover, after the Diwali weekend, Kantara will have to compete with Ayushmann Khurana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma, the latest instalment of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe.

The franchise’s last movie was Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. The film earned Rs 597.99 crore in India and Rs 857 crore worldwide, so Thama will definitely have a lot of takers. On the other hand, Kantara has now made Rs 670 crore worldwide, and has surpassed the collection of films like Dhoom 3, Tiger 3, Sultan, and even Saiyaara.

The occupancy rate of Kantara Chapter 1 averaged out at 15.58%. The occupancy rate in Kannada was 20.15%, Telugu was 13.5%, Hindi was 10.14%, and Tamil was 18.53%. The morning and afternoon shows in Kannada brought in rates of 9.76% and 17.97%, while the evening and night shows achieved the rates of 24.64% and 28.23%, respectively. This amount of footfall is quite less considering that the film was averaging almost 80% during the first few days after its release.

Directed, written and produced by Rishab Shetty, the film also stars him in the leading role. The rest of the cast includes Jayaram, Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, Rakesh Poojari, and Pramod Shetty.
