Zubeen Garg death probe: Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, manager Siddharth Sharma arrested in Delhi

NEW DELHI: Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta and late singer-actor Zubeen Garg’s manager, Siddhartha Sharma, have been arrested in Delhi and brought to Guwahati. Both were produced before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate here amid rain, and the court sent the duo to 14-day judicial custody under SIT.According to police, Mahanta had reportedly been hiding in Singapore, while lookout notices had already been issued against both him and Sharma, directing them to appear before the CID office in Guwahati by October 6.

Mahanta was arrested on his arrival at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi from Singapore while, Sharma was arrested from an apartment in Gurgaon.Also read: ‘We want thorough probe on death’: Zubeen Garg’s family moves Assam CID; SIT records statementsThe SIT has already interrogated Zubeen’s drummer Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, his brother and police officer Sandipon Garg, actress Nishita Goswami, Amritprabha, and owner of a local TV channel Sanjive Narain in connection with the case. All of them were in Singapore at the time of Zubeen’s death.Assam DGP Harmeet Singh said the investigation, led by the CID and SIT, is progressing transparently under the directives of the chief minister. “One SIT/CID team is already in Delhi, and another will head to Singapore. The Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) process is underway. I appeal to the people of Assam to have faith in the police. Within seven days, the probe will reach a logical conclusion. His mortal remains were flown to Delhi and later transported to Guwahati on Sunday morning by a commercial flight.
