IND vs BAN: Abhishek Sharma blows a kiss towards stands, it was for...
Abhishek Sharma blew kisses to his sister who was seated in the stands (Screengrabs/X)

Abhishek Sharma continued his fine run in the Asia Cup with another fiery innings, but it was his celebration that grabbed most of the attention during India’s Super Fours clash against Bangladesh. The left-hander smashed a 25-ball half-century, which was also his latest entry into the record books. He now has five scores of fifty or more in 25 balls or fewer in T20Is, moving ahead of Yuvraj Singh on India’s all-time list. Only captain Suryakumar Yadav (7) and Rohit Sharma (6) are ahead of him.

Inside details of India’s preparations for Bangladesh

Abhishek’s knock eventually ended at 75, when he was run out. By then, he had already put on a strong opening stand of 77 with vice-captain Shubman Gill, who departed first between the duo, giving India a flying start. But the standout moment arrived right after he reached his half-century. Abhishek, who had earlier celebrated with an ‘L’ sign against Pakistan, and later explained that it stood for “Love”, chose a more personal celebration this time. He blew kisses toward the stands, where cameras caught his sister Komal Sharma returning the gesture.Komal had also been present during India’s clash with Pakistan, where she spoke proudly of her brother’s performance following his 74-run knock. Tuesday’s repeat of his show with the bat and then the celebration ensured Abhishek’s celebration quickly went viral across social media.

With back-to-back explosive innings at the top, the young opener has strengthened his place alongside Gill, while also making headlines his unique ways of celebrating milestones.By the time Abhishek had lost his wicket, India were 112/3 in 11.1 overs.
