Delhi may soon get a giant observation wheel inspired by the London Eye. The proposed “Delhi Eye” at Mayur Vihar in east Delhi is planned by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) as a major recreational and tourism project.The project is planned at the Mayur Vihar district centre on a vacant land parcel and is aimed at creating a new landmark for east Delhi. The DDA has invited private participation for developing, operating and maintaining the attraction under a long-term licensing arrangement.What is the Delhi Eye project?The Delhi Eye is a proposed cantilevered observation wheel that will allow visitors to view the city from an elevated height. Unlike a regular amusement ride, an observation wheel is designed as a viewing attraction, where passengers get a slow-moving ride and a wider cityscape view. The project is planned on around 3.84 acres of land at the Mayur Vihar district centre and is expected to include more than just the wheel.
