“They’re testing students’ blood pressure”: CBSE's coming soon alerts fueling anxiety instead of clarity
CBSE Class 12 Result 2026

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to release the Class 12th results 2026 soon on the official website, cbse.gov.in. Previously, it was expected to be released on April 30, 2026. However, Controller of Examinations, Sanyam Bhardwaj, clarified to PTI that the results will be released in the third week of May this year.Saying that, a recent DigiLocker banner on the official website, digilocker.gov.in, published on May 10, 2026, triggered the anticipation and speculation among students. Furthermore, the DigiLocker post shared on its official social media handle on May 11, 2026, is causing growing anxiety and frustration among students across various social media platforms. The social media post urged students not to wait until result day and provided detailed instructions for creating DigiLocker accounts using APAAR-linked credentials and school-issued access codes in advance.

A different trend from previous years

What has added to the confusion is the contrast with previous result patterns. In earlier instances, DigiLocker notifications were often followed by result declarations within a short span. This year, however, the expected sequence appears to have shifted.Students have particularly pointed to the Class 10 result timeline. The DigiLocker status for CBSE Class 10 results was updated on April 14, 2026, and the results were officially declared the next day, April 15, 2026, at around 4 PM.That precedent led many Class 12 students to believe a similar timeline would be followed this time as well. Instead, the prolonged wait and absence of a confirmed announcement have amplified uncertainty.

Students say ambiguity is increasing stress levels

The repeated “coming soon” messaging without a specific declaration date has prompted sharp reactions online, with several students saying the uncertainty is affecting their mental well-being.One student, Shreya Jaiswal, wrote on X:“CBSE tweeting ‘don’t wait for tomorrow’ and now the entire country is collectively having anxiety attacks 😭 At this point they’re not releasing results, they’re testing students blood pressure.”Another user, Hawk-eye, criticised the repeated updates without clarity on the timeline:“At this point of time they are just disturbing the students mentally what’s the point in posting coming soon two when you can’t reveal the date of result. Shame!!”A student identified as Shubham said the repeated notifications were worsening anxiety among students already under pressure.“Please if you don’t want to tell the date then don’t just say coming soon in every hour through different platforms it seriously increasing my anxiety.”

Calls for greater transparency from CBSE

Several students appealed to CBSE to communicate a clear date and time instead of issuing broad notifications.Mawia Jawed wrote:“I am writing to request that you please change this habit of yours, or at least provide a specific date or time so that students can feel reassured.”Another student using the handle SEVEN 𝟕 pointed out that many students are simultaneously preparing for competitive examinations and college admissions.“A humble request from all the twelthies to please tell us a particular date for the results instead of posting ‘coming soon’ in digilocker and Umang. That just increases our anxiety while we’ve other exams to prepare for too.”Meanwhile, another user, Jitu gamer22, wrote:“We are mentally disturbed, don’t create so suspense, give a verified information, what kind of behavior is this”

More than just a result wait

The online reactions reflect a broader reality of today’s examination culture, where students are not only dealing with academic pressure but also the emotional strain created by uncertainty and constant digital speculation. With social media platforms flooded with unofficial updates, rumours and prediction posts, many students say they are checking notifications repeatedly throughout the day, fearing they might miss an announcement.Mental health experts have often cautioned that ambiguous communication during high-stakes examination periods can intensify stress among adolescents already navigating academic and career-related pressures. As of now, CBSE has not officially announced the exact date and time for the declaration of the 2026 Class 12 board results.Until that happens, the phrase “coming soon” continues to carry more tension than reassurance for thousands of waiting students.
