Riteish Deshmukh’s historical magnum opus, ‘Raja Shivaji’, is currently rewriting the record books for Marathi cinema. After a historic opening on Maharashtra Day, the film’s Day 2, Saturday, May 2, 2026 live tracking shows a relentless grip on the audience, particularly across the Marathi speaking belt driving exceptional footfall, with the Marathi version alone contributing Rs. 18 crore to the opening day performance. At the heart of the film’s early buzz is the moment no one saw coming, Salman Khan‘s surprise appearance as Jiva Mahala, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj‘s legendary loyal warrior, delivering a dialogue that is already trending across social media: “Shivaji nahi; Shivaji Raje mhanaycha.”‘Raja Shivaji’ faces stiff competition from two established hits, ‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’, now in its seventh week with Rs. 1,136.14 crore in India net continues to run in cinemas, though with a significantly reduced show count that has freed up substantial screen space for new releases. ‘Raja Shivaji’ Day 1 recap

On its opening day, ‘Raja Shivaji’ made a powerful debut, netting Rs. 11.35 crore from 6,192 shows nationwide. This strong start brought the film’s total domestic gross to Rs. 13.51 crore, establishing it as a major box office contender from day one.

According to Sacnilk, on Day 2, ‘Raja Shivaji’ has been maintaining a strong presence with 6,274 shows, earning a live net collection of Rs. 8.70 crore.This has pushed the film’s total domestic earnings to a net of Rs. 20.05 crore with a gross of Rs. 23.77 crore, though the final figures will be tallied by the end of the day.
