Lizard in paneer tikka? Bengaluru man hospitalised after bakery visit

BENGALURU: A 32-year-old man claimed to have found a lizard in the paneer tikka roll he got at a bakery near Housing Board on Magadi Main Road. He later fell sick and had to be hospitalised.According to the complaint filed by Deepu NK, a resident of Agrahara Dasarahalli and a cab driver, he skipped lunch on April 25 and later stopped at the bakery around 4pm to grab a quick bite. After having a piece of honey cake, he ordered a chicken roll. But as it was out of stock, he ordered a paneer tikka roll. He alleged that after eating a portion of the roll, he was shocked to find a lizard in it. Shocked, Deepu confronted the staff, which allegedly resulted in a dismissive response, with the staff insisting their premises were clean and asking him to check inside the shop. While inspecting, Deepu claimed he vomited. After a brief argument, a staff member at the bakery accompanied him to a private multispecialty hospital near Kamakshipalya police station. He got admitted at the hospital, and developed diarrhoea. Doctors told Deepu that he had to be kept under observation for 24 hours and asked him to pay the admission fee at the cash counter.Deepu claimed the bakery staff denied responsibility and said they could not bear the hospital expenses, instead asked him to accompany them to another hospital where they knew a doctor. Deepu refused and questioned what would happen if his condition deteriorated before reaching another hospital. The victim told police that the bakery had served him food with a lizard, causing harm to his health.
