Mumbai Woman Blasts BJP Minister Over Traffic Chaos Caused By 'Nari Shakti' Rally: ‘Get Out of Here’

Zen Sadavarte, the 18-year-old daughter of lawyer and former Bigg Boss contestant Gunratna Sadavarte, on Thursday submitted an application to Worli police seeking an FIR against the woman who protested over a traffic jam and shouted at Maharashtra minister Girish Mahajan during a BJP rally in Mumbai related to the women’s reservation bill.

MUMBAI: Zen Sadavarte, the 18-year-old daughter of lawyer and former Bigg Boss contestant Gunratna Sadavarte, on Thursday submitted an application to Worli police seeking an FIR against the woman who protested over a traffic jam and shouted at Maharashtra minister Girish Mahajan during a BJP rally in Mumbai related to the women’s reservation bill.Zen’s application stated that she was doing her LLB from University of East London and she was actively engaged in social issues as well as matters concerning human rights.

Mumbai Woman Blasts BJP Minister Over Traffic Chaos Caused By ‘Nari Shakti’ Rally: ‘Get Out of Here’

Zen’s application said a case should be registered against the woman for obstructing official duties, disturbing public peace, and engaging in violent acts with the intent of inciting a stampede.A senior police officer said, “she submitted the application late on Thursday evening around 7pm or 7.30pm. The local police are looking into the matter,” he said. The incident Zen was referring to took place in Worli on April 21 during a BJP-organised rally held to criticise opposition parties over the defeat of the Constitution Amendment Bill aimed at fast-tracking 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. During the rally, an agitated woman confronted Mahajan while he was speaking to reporters, alleging that the road closure due to the rally was causing inconvenience to commuters. She said she was on her way to pick up her son from school and was stuck in the traffic jam caused by the rallyists for an hour.“Get out of here. You are causing a traffic jam,” the woman said, questioning why the event was not held at a nearby open ground.Zen’s complaint said the woman acted with the malicious intent of triggering a stampede or panic. It said she threw a water bottle at the women and police personnel present, thereby disrupting public peace.“The said woman showed no signs of intentionally calming down; instead, she publicly humiliated the prominent figures within the protest march—specifically while they were speaking to journalists—by shouting loudly, “Get out of here. Did you not understand?” in a manner calculated to ensure their public disgrace was witnessed by all,” the application stated. While speaking to the media, Zen said she is the granddaughter of a police officer. She said the woman’s behaviour was “an insult to hardworking police officers.”
