'Not end of war': Iran supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei cautions as Tehran agrees to two-week ceasefire with US

After more than a month of war between Trump and Tehran regime, Iran’s supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei on Wednesday instructed the Islamic Republic’s military to observe a ceasefire, while strongly declaring that “this is not the end of the war.”Ali Khamenei’s successor and son Mojataba declared in his statement: “This is not the end of the war, but all military branches should follow the Supreme Leader’s order and cease fire,” CNN reported.

Iran’s supreme national security council also confirmed a two-week ceasefire amid the ongoing military escalation.Khamenei’s order came hours after a sharply worded warning from Trump, who cautioned Iran that “whole civilization will die tonight,” reflecting growing frustration over Tehran’s move to close the Strait of Hormuz.Despite agreeing to halt hostilities, Tehran signalled that the ceasefire does not mark an end to the conflict, following sustained military pressure from US and Israeli forces.Iran has laid out a series of conditions tied to any lasting resolution. These include full compensation for reconstruction, the lifting of all sanctions, and the release of Iranian funds frozen by the United States. The proposal also calls for a complete and permanent cessation of hostilities in Iran, as well as across Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen, alongside the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and guarantees for secure and free navigation.

Additionally, Iran has pledged it will not pursue nuclear weapons, contingent on these terms being met, and stated that a comprehensive ceasefire across all fronts would take effect immediately upon approval.A day earlier, Tehran had rejected Washington’s proposal to halt military action with the US and Israel, despite Trump’s warning of potential destruction of Iran’s critical infrastructure.
