Iran Acts On Warning, Missiles Hit At Amazon Data Center in Bahrain | Watch

Amazon’s cloud operations in Bahrain suffered damages after an Iranian strike, according to a report by Financial Times. A person familiar to the matter also confirmed the incident, however the details still reman limited. The FT report further adds that the Gulf state’s interior ministry said civil defence forces were“extinguishing a fire in a facility of a company as a result of the Iranian aggression,” without naming Amazon directly. The strike from Iran comes days after the Iran’s Revolutionary Guards threatened to target US companies operating in the Middle East, including Microsoft, Apple, Google, Meta, and others. The ecommerce major has not yet commented on the attack. However, its Amazon Web Services (AWS) facilities in the region have reportedly been struck multiple times during the ongoing conflict.

Amazon AWS operations disrupted second time due to US-Iran war

This is not the first time that Amazon has witnessed an attack. Last month, Amazon confirmed that its cloud infrastructure, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has even “disrupted” in Bahrain amid the ongoing Middle East conflict. According to a Reuters report, the company said that it is working to recover the service and is meanwhile helping its customers to migrate to alternate AWS regions. “As this situation evolves and, as we have advised before, we request those with workloads in the affected regions continue ‌to migrate to other locations,” Amazon said in a statement as quotes by the news agency. Additional details about the extent of the damage or how long the disruption may last are not known yet. AWS is Amazon’s cloud computing unit and critical for the operation of global websites and government operations. It is also the company’s main driver of profits.

Iran’s IRGC labels 18 US companies as ‘terrorist”

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRCG) has reportedly sent warning to American companies. According to a report in CBS News, the warning, similar to one issued in March, sends warning to 18 US companies that include technology and finance companies. In its message, IRGC said it would start targeting US technology and finance companies in the Middle East. The IRGC said the U.S. had “ignored our repeated warnings about the need to stop terrorist operations, and today, a number of Iranian citizens were martyred in your and your Israeli allies’ terrorist attacks.

In the post that has appeared on Telegram messaging app, the IRGC accused these 18 companies of acting as “spies” for the US government and helping it to carry out strikes. It said that since the main element in designing and tracking terror targets are American ICT and AI companies, in response to this terrorist operation, from now on the main institutions effective in terrorist operations will be our legitimate targets.“
