Oracle layoffs email to employees has a 'reminder': You are prohibited from … – The Times of India

Oracle has announced its biggest-ever layoffs, cutting thousands of jobs across its offices worldwide. The company sent layoffs email on March 31 informing Oracle employees that their role has been terminated, effective immediately. The email, sent as early as 6am EST yesterday, asks terminated employees to take “immediate action” to ensure they receive further communication related to their exit. It also informed employees that their access to company systems will be disabled and that they will be “prohibited from downloading, copying or retaining (including emailing yourself) any Oracle confidential information”.

Laid off Oracle employees asked to share personal email IDs

In the email, Oracle instructed its employees to provide a personal email address to receive further updates. “To receive important follow-up information, including FAQs and separation documents to help you through this transition, you must provide a personal email address,” the message stated. Employees were asked to submit the details through a provided link. In case of a submission error, it directed the staff to re-submit a new form. Oracle clarified that the personal email address will only be used for “correspondence regarding separation-related information and severance agreements.”

Access to Oracle systems to be revoked

The email further informed laid off Oracle employees that their access to “computer, email, voicemail, and files will be deactivated soon”. Additionally, the staff will not be able to log into their computer. Oracle also reminded employees about its data policies, stating they are “prohibited from downloading, copying or retaining” any confidential company information.

Here’s the ‘immediate action’ that laid off Oracle staff must do

Oracle’s 6am email states:“Immediate Action RequiredTo receive important follow-up information, including FAQs and separation documents to help you through this transition, you must provide a personal email address.Please click here to submit a personal email address immediately. If you make a submission error, please re-submit a new form. Please Note: The personal email address will only be used for correspondence regarding separation-related information and severance agreements.Access to your computer, email, voicemail, and files will be deactivated soon, and you will be unable to log into your computer. As a reminder, you are prohibited from downloading, copying or retaining (including emailing yourself) any Oracle confidential information.”
