Four new Amrit Bharat Express! PM Modi flags off trains – check routes, stoppages & schedule – The Times of India

Four new Amrit Bharat Express! PM Modi flags off trains - check routes, stoppages & schedule
For now the Amrit Bharat Express trains have only non-air-conditioned coaches, combining general seating with second-class sleeper accommodation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off four new Amrit Bharat Express trains on Saturday with an aim to enhance train travel experience and connectivity for the common man. The Amrit Bharat Express trains are modern trains which operate on a push-pull configuration with a locomotive at each end.The new Amrit Bharat Express trains will be on the following routes:

  • Alipurduar – SMVT Bengaluru Amrit Bharat Express
  • Alipurduar – Mumbai (Panvel) Amrit Bharat Express
  • New Jalpaiguri- Nagercoil Amrit Bharat Express
  • New Jalpaiguri- Tiruchirappalli Amrit Bharat Express

For now the Amrit Bharat Express trains have only non-air-conditioned coaches, combining general seating with second-class sleeper accommodation. The push-pull arrangement enables quicker pickup and braking, allowing the train to run at speeds of up to 130 kmph.

Train number 20603 New Jalpaiguri – Nagercoil Amrit Bharat Express will depart from New Jalpaiguri at 4:45 PM on Wednesday to reach Nagercoil at 11:00 PM on Friday. In the return direction, train number 20604 Nagercoil – New Jalpaiguri Amrit Bharat Express will leave from Nagercoil at 11:00 PM on Sunday to reach New Jalpaiguri at 5:00 AM on Wednesday.En route the train will stop at Tirunelveli Jn., Kovilpatti, Satur, Virudhunagar Jn., Madurai Jn., Dindigul Jn., Palni, Udumalpetta, Pollachi, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Jolarpettai, Katpadi, Renigunta, Gudur Jn., Ongole, Vijayawada Jn., Rajahmundry, Duvvada, Vishakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam Road, Palasa, Sompeta, Ichchapuram, Brahmapur, Balugaon, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kharagpur, Andul, Dankuni, Bolpur, Rampurhat, Malda Town, Barsoi Jn., Kishanganj.

New Jalpaiguri- Tiruchirappalli Amrit Bharat Express Schedule & Stoppages:

Train number 20609 New Jalpaiguri – Tiruchirappalli Amrit Bharat Express will depart from New Jalpaiguri at 4:45 PM on Friday to reach Tiruchirappalli at 4:15 PM on Sunday. In the return direction, train number 20610 Tiruchirappalli – New Jalpaiguri Amrit Bharat Express will depart from Tiruchirappalli at 5:45 AM on Wednesday to reach New Jalpaiguri at 5:00 AM on Friday.En route the train will stop at Thanjavur, Kumbakkonam, Mayiladuthurai, Chidambaram, Tiruppadiripuliyur, Villupuram Jn., Chengalpattu Jn., Tambaram, Chennai-Egmore, Sullurupeta, Nayudupeta, Gudur Jn., Ongole, Vijayawada Jn., Rajahmundry, Duvvada, Vishakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam Road, Palasa, Sompeta, Ichchapuram, Brahmapur, Balugaon, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kharagpur, Andul, Dankuni, Bolpur, Rampurhat, Malda Town, Barsoi Jn., Kishanganj.

In the return direction, train number 16598 Alipur Duar – SMVT Bengaluru Amrit Bharat Express will leave from Alipur Duar at 10:25 PM on Monday to reach SMVT Bengaluru at 3:00 AM on Thursday.En route the train will stop at Krishnarajapuram, Bangarapet, Kuppam, Jolarpettai, Katpadi, Renigunta, Nellore, Ongole, Chirala, Tenali, Vijayawada, Eluru, Rajahmundry, Samalkot, Anakapalle, Duvvada, Pendurti, Kottavalasa, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam Road, Palasa, Brahmapur, Balugaon, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kharagpur, Andul, Dankuni, Barddhaman, Bolpur Shantiniketan, Rampurhat, Malda Town, Barsoi, Kishanganj, Aluabari Road, New Jalpaiguri, Siliguri, Binnaguri, Hasimara.

Train number 11031 Panvel – Alipur Duar Amrit Bharat Express will leave Panvel at 11:50 AM on Monday to reach Alipur Duar at 1:50 PM on Wednesday. In the return direction, train number 11032 Alipur Duar – Panvel Amrit Bharat Express will depart from Alipur Duar at 4:45 AM on Thursday to reach Panvel at 5:30 AM on Saturday.En route the train will stop at Kalyan, Nasik Road, Jalgaon, Bhusaval, Itarsi, Pipariya, Jabalpur, Katni, Satna, Manikpur, Baragarh, Prayagraj Chheoki, Meja Road, Mirzapur, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, Buxar, Ara, Danapur, Patliputra, Sonpur, Hajipur, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Hasanpur Road, Khagaria, Mansi, Naugachia, Katihar, Barsoi, Kishanganj, Aluabari Road, New Jalpaiguri, Siliguri, Binnaguri, Hasimara.

Amrit Bharat Express Trains Top Features

  • The Amrit Bharat Express trains have upgraded seating and berths, foldable snack tables, LED lighting fixtures and fans fitted with stainless-steel grills.
  • Indian Railways says that the ride quality has been improved by air-spring suspension bogies. There is onboard communication through a passenger information system.
  • Additional conveniences for passengers include mobile holders, radium-lit floor guidance strips and toilet occupancy indicator lights.
  • Each coach has four toilets; two Indian-style and two Western-style units – all of which are fitted with electro-pneumatic pressurised flushing systems.
  • Safety and hygiene measures include aerosol-based fire suppression systems installed in toilets and electrical compartments, along with automatic soap dispensers, foldable bottle holders and sealed vestibule gangways.
  • Individual charging points are provided for every passenger.
  • In emergency situations, exterior emergency lights provide essential illumination, and charging points include both USB Type-A and Type-C ports.
