Haryana youth stabbed to death in UK: 6 arrested suspects granted bail; grieving family urges swift action

ROHTAK: A family from Haryana’s Charkhi Dadri district has appealed to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to help repatriate the body of 29-year-old Indian student Vijay Kumar Sheoran, who died in the United Kingdom after a stabbing incident in Worcester last week.In a letter dated November 26 to the external affairs minister, Vijay’s elder brother Ravi Kumar sought urgent assistance in bringing home the mortal remains of his younger brother, a resident of Jagrambass village in Badhra tehsil of Charkhi Dadri. The family has requested that directions be issued to the Indian High Commission in the UK for “immediate assistance” and “complete support” in the repatriation process.

Ravi wrote that Vijay, who was pursuing management studies at the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol, was “tragically murdered on 25.11.2025 by certain individuals”. According to information shared by the family and local police updates, officers found Vijay critically injured with multiple stab wounds in the early hours of November 25 on Barbourne Road in Worcester, around 4.15am GMT. He was rushed to hospital and later shifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, where he succumbed to his injuries on November 26. “Our family is devastated by this unfortunate incident,” Ravi stated in his representation, urging the government to help ensure that Vijay’s last rites can be performed in their native village. The family has pointed to “complex foreign procedures, legal formalities, documentation, and financial aspects” as major hurdles, saying it is “extremely difficult” for them to handle the process from India without official support. The letter requested MEA’s help in coordinating with British authorities, expediting documentation and verification, and arranging transportation of the body to India. Vijay was the son of Surender Singh and Saroj Bala.According to the communication, the case is being investigated by the Worcester CID team of West Mercia Police. Six individuals have been arrested during the course of the murder investigation and later released on police bail, pending further inquiry. Their identities and alleged roles have not been made public so far. A crime reference number has been shared with the family, but they say detailed information remains limited.Speaking to TOI, Ravi said his brother had left for the UK earlier this year to pursue higher studies in management. Before that, Vijay had been serving as an officer in the central government’s excise and customs department, posted in Kochi. “He resigned from his government job to build a better future through education in the UK,” Ravi said, adding that the family never imagined such a tragedy would strike. He said that the family has two demands, first to have the dead body in the country at the earliest and justice for Vijay Kumar Sheoran as killers may escape law if the issue is not raised seriously.
