Mastermind behind Kapil Sharma’s Cafe shootings arrested by Delhi Police; pistol recovered during operation
Delhi Police have apprehended Bandhu Maan Singh Shekhon, a key operative of the Goldy Dhillon gang, in connection with the shootings at Kapil Sharma’s Canadian cafe. Shekhon allegedly coordinated the overseas attacks from India. The cafe faced three shooting incidents and Molotov cocktail attacks, with gangs claiming responsibility and issuing further threats, including one targeting Mumbai.

The Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested the alleged mastermind behind the series of shootings that targeted comedian Kapil Sharma’s Kap’s Cafe in Surrey, Canada. Reportedly the crime branch team which was led by DCP Sanjeev Yadav nabbed Bandhu Maan Singh Shekhon, identified as a major operative of the Goldy Dhillon gang.

According to TOI City reports, the officials recovered a Chinese PX-3 pistol from the accused. Special CP Devesh Srivastava confirmed that Shekhon played a crucial role in coordinating the attacks overseas while operating from India.

Three shootings in four months created panic

Kap’s Cafe, opened earlier this year as Kapil Sharma’s first international restaurant venture, was struck by gunfire three times which were in July, August, and October. The October incident occurred just two weeks after the café reopened following repairs from previous attacks. In the latest assault, the shooters recorded the act from inside a moving car using an automatic pistol. They later uploaded the footage on social media. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang affiliates Goldy Dhillon and Kulvir Sidhu publicly claimed responsibility. The gang warned Bollywood figures over alleged anti-religious remarks. They also issued threats of more attacks.

Threats intensified with warning of action in Mumbai

The August shooting involved 9–10 rounds being fired at the café, with at least six bullets hitting the front walls and windows. Staff members were inside the restaurant during the attack, and Molotov cocktails were hurled.Residents alerted authorities after hearing gunfire around 4:30 am. This reportedly led to triggering immediate deployment of police units.Following the incident, Dhillon claimed online that the gang called Kapil Sharma but didn’t receive a response, prompting them to “act.” He further warned that their next move would take place in Mumbai.Meanwhile, the first attack on July 9 was claimed by Germany-based Babbar Khalsa International terrorist Harjeet Singh Laddi, who described it as retaliation for comments allegedly made on Kapil Sharma’s show in the past.
