Stock market today: Nifty50 and BSE Sensex, the Indian equity benchmark indices, tanked in trade on Tuesday amid continuous overseas fund withdrawals and declining trends in Asian and European markets.The NSE Nifty, consisting of 50 shares, decreased by 165.70 points, or 0.64 per cent, settling at 25,597.65.The BSE Sensex, comprising 30 shares, declined by 519.34 points, or 0.62 per cent, closing at 83,459.15. Throughout the trading session, it fell by 565.72 points, or 0.67 per cent, reaching 83,412.77.Among Sensex companies, significant losses were observed in Power Grid, Eternal, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Maruti and Bharat Electronics.Conversely, Titan, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finance, Mahindra & Mahindra, and State Bank of India showed positive performance.Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 1,883.78 crore on Monday, as per exchange data. Meanwhile, Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) purchased shares valued at Rs 3,516.36 crore in the previous session.Asian markets witnessed declines, with South Korea’s Kospi, Japan’s Nikkei 225 index, Shanghai’s SSE Composite index and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index all ending lower.European markets traded negatively on Monday, whilst American markets largely finished higher.The global oil benchmark Brent crude decreased by 1.34 per cent to USD 64.02 per barrel.(Disclaimer: Recommendations and views on the stock market, other asset classes or personal finance management tips given by experts are their own.
